For this installation we presented Testbeds through four diptych prints and a board game alongside a museum-commissioned video by the filmmaker Hudson Lines. Each diptych presents a single mockup in two instances: on the left, in various testing and storage scenarios (installed in a sales gallery, in a storage lot surrounded by overgrown grass, getting tested for water resistance, staged on site for a design review). On the right, in its various possible afterlives in community gardens (as a casita, a greenhouse, a stage, a farmstand). Off the gallery walls sits a board game that illustrates the meandering paths each mockup might take to find its new location—featuring the many characters, obstacles, bureaucracies and systems of support that a project of this scale might encounter leading to its final build-out.
